Haute Mama: My Favorite New Mama Transitional Pieces

Vanessa Lachey's New Mama Style

Being a busy Mama calls for some versatile wardrobe choices. Today I want to share with you 4 of my favorite pieces that I am LOVING because they transitioned me from pregnancy to post-pregnancy. My second pregnancy was different for me in so many ways. One being my wardrobe. I learned with Camden that I wanted and needed transitional pieces that I could wear during my pregnancy AND that would carry me thru those post pregnancy months. Not only are these pieces super comfortable, but you can dress them up or down depending on the day (and your mood!).

A Tailored Blazer

Helmut Lang blazers make for great layering pieces. A nice, tailored blazer always works, whether you’re dressing up jeans, leggings, or even a dress! For me, black is the most versatile, but now that spring is here I think that a cream or an off-white blazer would look adorable. These blazers are a little more expensive but I wear it SO much that it’s a great staple piece. I have the same exact blazer in a few colors that I wore during both my pregnancies and after… that’s how much I love them! Helmut Lang blazers may not be maternity, but I find that they’re versatile enough to go with just about anything! That’s another reason I love them. You don’t feel like you are splurging on just a maternity piece. Here are some blazer options that are just as comfortable and totally budget friendly, too.

Slip-On Sneakers

Being a busy mom calls for a comfortable yet stylish shoe! I find that it’s important to have a shoe that’s easy to kick on and off throughout the day. I love my Vince Slip-On Sneakers… they’re such a great mommy shoe to wear with just about anything! I usually wear them with leggings or jeans. And the best part? This style of shoe seriously comes in every possibly pattern and color imaginable, that it’s almost too hard to choose! For Spring I am loving the lighter colors. But black was my first pair, and mohair is a super stylish version of this shoe. The slip-on shoe possibilities are endless, but here are a few options that you don’t want to pass up on!

Pajama Jeans

One of my favorite transitional pieces is a little unconventional! There’s a pair of jeans from Rag & Bone that are actually sweat pants but they look exactly like jeans. My girlfriends call them my “sweans” haha! I have the light AND dark wash. They’re a phenomenon! I wear them around the house, to the airport and out running errands. It looks like I’m wearing jeans (but they’re actually sweatpants!!!). The price point is similar to a pair of jeans, and they’re super stylish, too. They are a bit of a splurge but honestly, the fact that I can wear them 4 out of 7 days a week makes them practical for me and makes it worth the money. I wore them during my whole pregnancy (under my belly of course) and now still wear them! While I know that these are a bit of a splurge, don’t worry, there are other amazing options too!

Maxi Dresses

My last transitional must-have is inspired by Rachel Zoe’s maternity line at A Pea in the Pod. The best thing about these dresses is that they don’t even look maternity! I wear my Rachel Zoe maternity dress just about everywhere because I LOVE how lightweight it is! You can wear these dresses out to dinner, to the beach or even a play date with the kids. What more could you ask for? Here are some of my favorite maternity maxi dress options.
