One of the things that I love most about the chilly winter weather is bundling up in layers. A go-to staple in my closet is alway a sleek, chic leather jacket. It not only goes with almost everything, but usually ups your outfit’s “wow” factor by more than a couple of notches right after throwing it on -- without much effort, I might add. Designers have been coming out with chic, sleek and form-fitting versions for years now – and this season is no exception. So whether your own style is classic, girly, rocker or anything else, I guarantee there’s a leather (or pleather) jacket out there for you.  Here are five of my faves at the moment: 

 The Classic Motocycle 

 This is the classic leather jacket – sleek, black and decked out in zippers.  The small stud detailing gives it a tough edge, but the close fit makes it an easy pick to throw on over almost anything.  Toughen up a girly dress by putting this on over, then pair with ankle boots.

Bold & Blue

 I saw a photo of Mandy Moore wearing something similar to this at Fashion Week and immediately fell in love.  Look at that stunning blue! Cobalt blue is the “it” hue of the season, and I see no reason why it can’t be translated to a (faux) leather jacket.  Since the color is so bold, I would make sure to tone down the rest of my ensemble and let the jacket soak up the spotlight.  

 Shearling

 

 Stay warm and look cool in a cozy, faux shearling jacket. The fur adds a luxurious sense of warmth to this tailored motorcycle cut jacket. The various textures give a playful and modern feel, leave the rest of your outfit simple and let this sophisticated jacket shine!

 Trim & Tailored

 For those of you who are more regal than rebel, this streamlined jacket might be your leather go-to.  There’s not a stud to be found on this number - just sleek lines and a body-con fit.  The camel color brings a girly feel to the usual black toughness of a leather jacket. Throw this over a dress and pair with heels for an edgy date-night ensemble. 

 Burgundy 

Nothing is hotter this winter than the color "oxblood." From our nails to our jackets, every girl is right on trend when sporting this dark, wintry hue. I would pair this with a flowy top, cuffed skinny jeans and sleek pumps for a night out.  For a look that’s more daytime, just substitute flats for your heels.
