Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and you probably spent all this time making sure everyone around you felt incredibly loved on the special day…and I’m sure they all did! But, woman-to-woman, it’s really important that you show yourself some love, too. The other day, Nick was so sweet and told me to, “go have a ‘girly’ day.” (Have I ever mentioned how much I love that man?!) I took his much-needed advice, woke up the next day and pampered myself. Nick stayed at home and watched Cam with no questions asked—no wondering how long I would be gone or where I would be going. He just let me go do me for a bit. I didn’t realize that this little bit of “me time” would have me coming back feeling like a whole new woman! We need to “recharge” every once in a while. Whether you’re a mom, student, wife, girlfriend, or just a hardworking woman, you need some time here and there to just stop and chill out! So I decided I would put together some inspiration on taking time to love YOU:
- Beautify: I personally find that getting a mani/pedi in a bright, new and fun shade always heightens my happiness. Salons have amazing colors right now, just in time for some spring spirit! (I’m really loving white nails right now!). If not nails, go get a blow out or try a facial! Do something different that you usually don’t have the time for, but that makes you feel like the gorgeous goddess you are!
- Spa Day: Treat yourself to a massage. Some nail salons will even give you an extra 10-minute foot massage for just $10. (Not bad, right?!) A massage will help release some of the built up stress you’ve acquired from parenting, school, work, etc. It’s a healthy way to relieve tension from your body and your mind.
- Shop: When Nick had me take my girly day, I headed over to one of my favorite boutiques and picked out a couple new things. I’m not saying go on a crazy shopping spree, but you can definitely allow yourself to splurge a little. Just like anything else, keep it in moderation… It’s okay every now and again!
- Indulge: I personally happen to love a good, gluttonous coffee here and there (which is exactly what I picked up before I got my nails done that day), but no matter what you have the taste for, go out and get it. Maybe it’s something healthy, or maybe it’s a Bundt Cake with cream cheese frosting… Whatever it is, you deserve it! Indulging in your favorite meal once in a blue moon isn’t going to kill you! Heck, even cook yourself a dinner-for-one!! There’s nothing better than enjoying your own, home-cooked meal.
- Relax: Take a break from work, parenting, your relationship; instead, take a bath, go on a walk, watch a movie, read a book… Do anything that will let your mind wander elsewhere for the time being. It’s amazing how just a little time away can help immensely with anything you have going on in your life. It increases your ability to focus more clearly on those aspects… it will help you be better at whatever your doing! I love turning my phone off and hopping into a bath complete with soothing oils and some relaxing music… Enya A Day without Rain, Alicia Keys Songs in A Minor, Ray Lamontagne Gossip in the Grain or Trouble.
I promise, you’ll come out of the day feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world again. It’s amazing how showing yourself a little love can go such a long way.
Now, tell me, how do YOU pamper yourself? Are you like me? Or do you have some others ways you like to chill out and relax? Let me know in the comments!
Xx, Vanessa

Cleaning...I put on my headphones, listen to great music an clean my house. Knowing that my house is clean really relieves stress. Than I go out for my "fufu" coffee (that is what my husband calls it) and get a mani/pedi, indulge in a nice lunch and a little shopping. Girly day is few and far between so when I do get one I take advantage. I also love a good workout...I feel so much better knowing that I have done something healthy and good for my body and soul. -
Hey Vanessa! I totally agree with Natalie...I love to cook and bake! It is so calming for me! I actually have a recipe page on Facebook called "Creations From My Kitchen To Yours" that I created. I post all kinds of recipes with pictures. Whoever wants to join, request to join, and let me know that you're from Vanessa's page. I love to exercise! As a mommy of 3, when I haven't done my 45 minute power walk, I crawl out of my skin! Manis, pedis, and facials are always important because not only are you looking great for your spouse/partner but you yourself feel cleaner. Right before falling asleep, I always look forward to reading my books. I love Nicholas Sparks books. I am so lucky to have a very romantic husband (like Nick) so those books are great! Oh Vanessa, you would love to hear how he proposed to me and what he did for our 10th year wedding anniversary, related to the proposal! I also find that my friends and I love going to pottery. That is also extremely relaxing! I love everything that you said Vanessa, but you should know that the real rejuvenation is when you have a wonderful husband by your side (which I myself can relate to as well), he just looks at you, he knows how stressed you are, and he tells you, "I'll take the kids so that you can have a vacation", or "Do me a favor, go for your walk. Come back when you feel calm." When your man is supportive and understanding, I find that to be the best stress releaser! -
Hi Vanessa! Thanks for sharing always!
I love to cook/bake. It de-stresses me a ton and I always end up giving it away so I'm not always eating it haha (I'm a health freak.)I love to make new recipes. Shopping in a shoe store always brightens my day. I'm obsessed with shoes! My last thing I do after making chocolate covered strawberries, is watching a good movie. I collect them because I love to watch them while doing my girls night (when I get the house to myself lol).
Love this site Vanessa! Its nice to be able to hear your ideas and stuff :) -
I LOVE this post!! How about getting time away for you and hubby Nick?? Anyone have suggestions on the best kind of dates when you have a new baby and you only get a night with your hubby like every once in a blue moon?? Need date night ideas!!! Thanks loves! -
I'm a mommy to three amazing kids, all under 5 years old. And after reading your post all but one word came to mind ... AMEN. -
Well said Vanessa! You have to take care of yourself, mind and body before you can be an asset to anyone else. -
Thanks Vanessa - "me" time is sooooo important! Love your posts! It's so nice to have a celebrity (for once) whose genuinely lovely, down to earth and with such a gorgeous cute family. Love to all the other Vanessa Lachey Fans out there. Nina (Edinburgh, Scotland) x -
We TOTALLY need that time to just be alone, take time to do what we don't get to do that often. I like to take time out to go out to a few of my favorite stores, buy something new :) whether it's for my home or closet...it's just nice to do that every once in a while. Another thing is being home alone....coffee/tea...watch a movie :)
Another great post Vanessa! -

I like going to all of my favorite shops by myself so that I can take all the time that I want. I feel rushed if someone else is with me. There is nothing like retail therapy, even if you do not buy one thing it just feels good to spend a couple hours looking to see what is out there. -
Ohhh yes darling! I love just doing my nails but wit Noah only being 3 mths doesn't give me much time.. But on Monday night my hubby didn't work , I took the night to lighten my hair alil and did my nails!!! Wow I truly feel more awaken and pretty ;-) -
Hi Vanessa ! Thank you for these little tips, that's exactly what i need right now ;)
I'm all into the mani-pedi, I just love the different colors and the result! Always better that when you do it at home ;) It's been way too long since i had a blow out, i usually do it myself, but I remember it felt so good :) Hair goddess power ahah
I love to hop in a hot bath, with scented oils and, most important to me, candles! Lots of them! I love the smell, the shaded light plus it's sexy and I don't mind ending my me time with my man ;)
After the bath, I love to lounge in my bed with fresh sheets :) and read a book !
I think we should definitely carve out the time to have a massage on a regular basis; i think it's relaxing first but also a good way to stay connected with yourself and maybe it can be a way to know our bodies better and to listen to it.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to us via your site, knowing how busy you must be with Cam and the rest of your life :) and it's always good tips or mouth watering recipes or some highlights of your personal story so thank you! It's a beautiful site you can be proud of.
Have a great day
